Hair filler and hair restoration treatments
Injectable scalp treatments deliver hyaluronic acid, peptides and growth-supporting ingredients directly into the scalp to improve its condition and support the hair follicles already there.
They work best on thinning hair, not on areas that have been bald for years. Once a follicle is gone, nothing injected into the scalp brings it back — and anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.
If the hair has already gone, ask about scalp micropigmentation instead. It does not bring hair back either. It recreates the look of it.
The treatment protocol
A course of four sessions, two to four weeks apart, then maintenance every four to six months. Each session takes around thirty minutes. The scalp is numbed beforehand.
Hair grows slowly. Expect to judge this at four to six months, not at four to six weeks.
What it costs
From £150 per session. The initial course is four sessions, so from £600.
Common questions
Will hair filler make my hair grow back?
No, and be wary of anyone who says it will. It improves the condition of the scalp and supports the follicles you still have, which is why it works best on thinning hair rather than on areas that have been bald for years. Once a follicle has gone, nothing injected into the scalp brings it back.
Should I see my GP first?
Yes. Hair loss can come from iron deficiency, thyroid disease, hormonal change after pregnancy or around the menopause, some medicines, and significant stress in the months before, and a scalp treatment will not touch any of those. Ask your GP for blood tests including ferritin, thyroid function and vitamin D before you book.
How many hair filler sessions will I need?
A course of four, two to four weeks apart, then a maintenance session every four to six months. Each session takes around thirty minutes, and the scalp is numbed beforehand.
When will I see a difference?
Hair grows slowly, so judge it at four to six months, not at four to six weeks.
