Dermal Fillers
Chin filler and profile balancing
The chin is the most under-treated part of the face and the one most often responsible for a complaint about something else. A chin that sits back relative to the lips makes the lower face look heavy, the nose look larger and the jawline look undefined.
More than a few people who come in asking about their nose or their lips leave having had their chin treated instead.
Who it suits
It suits a chin that lacks forward projection in profile, a chin that is short vertically, mild asymmetry, and a dimpled or 'orange peel' chin surface.
It does not suit a significantly recessed jaw caused by skeletal position — that is an orthodontic or surgical problem, and filler will not fix it. We will say so and suggest who to speak to.
Why we photograph you from the side
Almost nobody assesses their own chin, because almost nobody looks at their own profile. We take a standardised side-on photograph at consultation and show it to you, which is usually the moment the conversation changes.
How long it lasts
Twelve to eighteen months. The chin moves relatively little and takes a firm, structural filler well, so results here are among the longest-lasting on the face.
What it costs
Priced at your consultation, depending on how much product you need.
Common questions
Why treat my chin when it is my nose or lips that bother me?
Because the chin is often what is behind it. A chin that sits back relative to the lips makes the lower face look heavy, the nose look larger and the jawline look undefined. More than a few people who ask about their nose or lips leave having had their chin treated instead.
Can chin filler fix a weak chin?
It can add forward projection to a chin that lacks it, lengthen a chin that is short, and balance mild asymmetry. It cannot fix a significantly recessed jaw caused by the position of the bone. That is an orthodontic or surgical problem, and we will say so and suggest who to speak to.
How long does chin filler last?
Twelve to eighteen months. The chin moves relatively little and takes a firm, structural filler well, so results here are among the longest-lasting on the face.
Can chin filler smooth a dimpled chin?
It can. A dimpled, 'orange peel' surface is one of the things chin filler suits, and it is assessed with the rest of the lower face at your consultation.
Should I have my jawline treated too?
Often, yes. The chin and jaw work as one structure, so a side-on photograph of your profile is usually what decides whether one, the other or both will give the balance you are after.
How much does chin filler cost?
It is priced at your consultation, depending on how much product you need, and you know the cost before anything is done.
