Lines at the outer corners of the eyes are usually the first to appear, often in the early thirties, and they are the ones people are most ambivalent about — they show up when you smile, and plenty of people would rather keep them.

What's actually happening
The skin around the eye is the thinnest on the body — around half a millimetre in places — with very little underlying fat or oil gland activity to support it. It creases earlier than skin elsewhere and holds the crease for longer.
Sun exposure accelerates this more than anything else. If you take one thing from this page, it is that daily sun protection around the eyes will do more over ten years than any treatment will do in one.

Skin quality treatments, which address the thinning and dehydration underneath. Volume assessment, since hollowing at the temple and outer cheek deepens the appearance of these lines.
